ABOUT THE DOWRY SYSTEM

Police Department and Law should be people friendly. If any dowry case is lodged, it took years together for judgment and again appeal to further courts. If the Justice or Judgment is delayed, not only Dowry system, all other crimes will be continued as usual. Hence, again I wish to reiterate Police Department and Law should be people friendly..

This dowry issue is very old one and persisting for last 30 to 40 years. Everybody, individually, is against the dowry system, but society is not. So, people stop to follow the society and develop their own individuality and maintain the character.
Though everybody hates this system and  Law also treating this as crime, why the issue is still persisting? Perhaps, in the society, everybody is interested in this system. If so, the system may be legalized.

      In my view, most of the cases,  Ladies are encouraging this system. For last 3 to 4 years, I know many groom families not asking any dowry. The bride is interested in Gold/gold ornaments and brides' mothers also interested in giving Gold/gold ornaments, Silver and other household items besides to spend grandly in connection with marriages. I suggest the following points which help indirectly: -

01. Discourage the usage of Gold and Gold Ornaments by taxing at least with 1000% or more.

02. Marriage expenditure should be taxed with at least 1000% if it crosses certain limit, say, Rs. 2 to 3 lakhs

03. Encourage Registered Marriages or Love Marriages which reduces the cost of marriage drastically. 

04. Stop the using the word "Kanya Daana" and this theme should be removed while performing the Marriages. Because once we given "daana", we don't have any right on the bride and the taker of daana can do anything with her. So I hate this word. 

05. Where ever the dowry, Gifts, Gold Ornaments etc took place in any marriage, Invitees should avoid attending those marriages. If they attend, that means they are supporting this system. 

06. Violations will be treated as serious crime, for givers, takers and supporters of the dowry, gifts which may be in any form, the punishment should be minimum of 10 years of jail and their entire properties should be seized. 

07. The law should be fast and Government has to start fast track courts and the max period for judgment is 3 months only and it should be max 6 months including judgment in appealing court.
